CSP INVESTIGATIVE SERVICES SECTION
This course provides instruction that allows the student
to apply for certification thru POST as a certified VIN inspector.
Subjects covered include:
- Laws
that govern the certified vehicle inspection process, as well as basic
auto theft law.
- Introduction
of the National Insurance Crime Bureau and its use in Auto theft
investigations.
- Deciphering
and reconstruction of both pre and post 1981 Vehicle Identification
Numbers.
- Reasons
for and how to conduct Certified Vehicle Identification Number
inspections.
- Identification
of Motorcycles with emphasis on Harley Davidson bikes.
- Discussion
of basic auto theft as well as Chop Shops and Salvage Switches.
- Third
Day includes hands on training looking at actual vehicles and conducting
inspections.
Upon completion of
the course of instruction student will be eligible to apply for
Colorado POST
certification as a VIN inspector.
